Aussie Town Honours Hometown Hero With Street To Be Named – Jason Day Drive.

There’s Tom Morris Drive in St. Andrews and I’ve driven up Sam Snead Drive in North Carolina.

But then the town where Jason Day grew up will soon boast a street named Jason Day Drive.

The rural city of Beaudsesert is located about an hour south-west of Brisbane and the local council has agreed to the move of the still to be developed street.

Mayor John Brent said the unanimous Scenic Rim Council decision was a fitting tribute to the world No.2-ranked player and the area’s favourite son.

‘Many locals, golf enthusiasts and non-golfers alike, have followed his career for many years from a six-year-old junior at the Beaudesert Golf Club,’ Cr Brent said.

‘The story of how his late father encouraged his interest in the sport after salvaging an old club from the tip is the stuff of local legend.’

A spokeswoman for Scenic Rim Council indicated Jason Day Drive would sit in a new residential estate in Beaudesert but had not been constructed yet.

‘Jason Day Drive is yet to be constructed however will be in the coming months. At that time, a sign unveiling will take place.’
