Padraig Harrington Again Trying To Stay Out Of His Own Way.

With triple Major winning Padraig Harrington it’s always work in progress.

Despite capturing the Pro-Am with legendary jockey A P McCoy by his side Harrington revealed after his British Masters first round five under par 66 he struggled somewhat dealing with a variance in his set-up that involves changing his hip position at address.

“I was a bit uncomfortable with the new set-up but I worked my way through it and hopefully I can be a lot more comfortable over the next three days,” he said.

“I was just a bit tense at times and wasn’t free flowing tee to green.

“But then in the Pro-Am, it’s a lot easier.  I always play well Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  It’s one of those things, I would like to see – holing a few more putts will obviously free me up a little bit more.

“I can do that the next three days, I should see things improving.”

However when quizzed why he would change his set-up so late in a season the current World No. 117 and similar 117th placed on the Race To Dubai, not surprisingly insisted it was simply ‘work in progress’.

“There’s always work in progress with me but then I wouldn’t normally introduce something into my game that I was conscious of as this is different in that sense,” he said.

“But then looking back on my round today I putted very well and at times I haven’t been putting very well over the last few years.”

In fact, Harrington had just 25 putts to be heading to the second round only two shots from the lead.
