‘Your Kid Ate All My Macaroni & Cheese’ – Jason Day’s First Attempt As A Golf Reporter!

“By the way, your kid ate all my macaroni and cheese!”

This was the response from double Masters winning Bubba Watson to a question put to him by newly-crowned PGA Champion, Jason Day.

Day could have a career in golf journalism given his interviewing technique on the opening day of the PGA Tour’s Barclays Championship, and also the first event of the 2015 FedEx Cup Play-Off Series.

Clubhouse leading Waston took the stand in the ‘flash area’ entertaining questions following a five under par first round 65 in ideal conditions on the Plainfield Country Club course in Edison, New Jersey.

The American was nearing the end of his interview when Day, who had played in the same group as Watson and also double Major winning Jordan Spieth, found his way to the area in front of the clubhouse and then soon found himself listening to Watson.

However Day didn’t hesitate in also throwing a question at Watson.

“Was it an honour to play with Jason Day?” said Day.

Watson, who had spotted Day waiting among the accredited jounalists, replied:  “Jason Day is one of my favourite golfers of all time because his son has the best hair I’ve ever seen.

“And by the way, he was at my house yesterday eating up all my macroni and cheese.  So you owe me for that”.

Then when Day took his place behind the microphone it was mentioned to the new PGA Champion ‘that you might have a career as a golf journalist’.

Day smiled and remarked:  “No, way to early for me to be going down that route”.
