Justin Rose Waiting With ‘Baited’ Breath At First Sighting Of A Shark.

Former U.S. Open winner Justin Rose revealed he’s taken up spearfishing.

Rose has donned a mask and flippers along with a spear gun and has been diving in the waters around his palatial Bahamas residence.

He’s so proud of his new sport so much so he’s already provided a lobster for his young family to dine on.

Rose had divulged this new sports passion when asked by the Daily Record’s Euan McLean if he had jumped into the deep end embracing any dangerous activity in the light of World No. 1 Rory McIlroy rupturing a ligament last weekend in playing a friendly game of football.

Justin Rose fears nothing on the golf course but is not too sure about encountering a Bull Shark.

Justin Rose fears nothing on the golf course but is not too sure about encountering a Bull Shark.

“I’m not the biggest daredevil in the world, so probably, I don’t know, anything involving water relaxes me, so maybe whether that be spearfishing  that’s probably the most like James Bond, daredeviling thing I get up to,” said Rose.

“I guess living in the Bahamas now, it’s what the locals do and what some of my friends do. It’s what I’ve been roped into doing. I’m not particularly comfortable in the water yet but had a couple cracks at it.

“Learning new things and pushing yourself to do different things is a great way to switch off and sort of free your mind from golf.”

However when Rose was asked if he any close encounters of the ‘close’ kind he became a little uncomfortable.

“No, I am dreading my first encounter with a shark because I don’t know how I will react,” he said.

“The guys I go spear-fishing with said I should be fine but you don’t know how you are going to react, do you to you see one.

“I’ve seen a Bull Shark pulled out of the water so I will just have to wait to that situation arises and how I will feel.”
