Shane Lowry Gets The Cuff Links & Now The X-Box In Winning BMW PGA Pro-Am.

First it was missing out on a pair of ‘Players 2015’ commemorative cuff links and this week it was missing on the Pro-Am leading prize of a £350 X-Box.

Tournament Director, Jamie Birkmyer was waiting for the Dubliner after his second successive round of 67 that put the current World No. 55 ranked player into seventh place at eight under par on day three of the BMW PGA Championship.

Lowry was runner-up last year to World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and now with a round to play surely will be entertaining thoughts of repeating the feat a year ago of McIlroy who came from seven shots back to capture the Tour’s flagship event.

However of more immediate pleasure to Lowry was being presented with an X-Box video system after the Irishman had pointed out in his newspaper column he was still awaiting his Pro-Am prize from last Wednesday.

“This (X-Box) is for the Pro-Am, and that’s nice,” he said.

“I haven’t had a computer game for a long time, so maybe I’ll hook it up next week to the TV and see what it’s like.

“I haven’t played them in years. I played them through my exams in school, that was about it.”

A fortnight ago Lowy was inadvertently overlooked by the PGA Tour when they invited all Players Championship first timers to the now annual pre-tournament interview in front of the stunning TPC Sawgrass.

However when www.golfbytourmiss.com wondered why Lowry had not been asked to attend the response from a leading PGA Tour official was:  “Shane’s contested The Players before hasn’t he?”

Each of the first timers assembled that Wednesday morning were presented with a commemorative set of cuff links to mark their attendance in the event.

It was two days later Lowry said he was approached by a PGA Tour official who apologized for the oversight.
