Jordan Spieth …. “I Would Love To Hit It As Far As Rory Does”.

The world’s top-two ranked golfers have been grouped together for the opening two rounds of this week’s Players Championship.

It will be the first time Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth will come face-to-face since Spieth went to No. 2 in the world in capturing last month’s Masters at Augusta National.

Joining the duo over the Pete Dye designed Stadium Course will be Australia’s Jason Day.

However on the eve of the $US10m Spieth was asked if there was one aspect of McIlroy’s game he could have what that would be.

“I would like to hit the ball as far as Rory does,” said Spieth.

“He’s got an incredible golf game, but if you asked me to pick one I would certainly say that I wanted to hit the ball as far as he does.”

As well, McIlroy was quizzed what aspect of Spieth’s game would he welcome and after Spieth’s display using the shortest club in his bag in capturing the Masters, McIlroy’s response was just as clear.

“Jordan has been putting phenomenally well over the past few months and that’s been a big thing for him,” said McIlroy.

“You look at the putts that he’s holed and the putts that he’s also holed when he needed to.  That’s the big reason why Jordan’s done so well.”
