Will Tiger Woods Be Present At Blue Jack National Media Preview?

Mark O’Meara has been asked to deputize when the media attending this week’s Shell Houston Open will be present at the ‘media opening’ of the Tiger Woods designed Blue Jack National course located about an hour’s drive north of this week’s PGA host venue.

However the big question is after his aircraft was spotted at Augusta Regional Airport will Woods make an appearance to the course at Montgomery to the north of Houston, Texas?

As the first completed Tiger Woods Design in the United States, Bluejack National looks to provide a truly unique golf experience in the Texas market.

A championship caliber course that focuses on shot-making and enjoyment of the game, members and visitors alike will find that the course site is reminiscent of the pinelands of the Carolinas and Georgia with its gentle rolling topography and woodlands of mature pines and stately hardwoods.

The golf experience at Bluejack National will feature the following characteristics:

The existing topography is utilized to capture long range views and vistas and to provide golf holes with a variety of uphill and downhill shots. The total elevation change on the golf course from the high point to low point is 80 feet.

Bunkers and other hazards are placed to maximize strategic options. A shot that successfully challenges a hazard will be rewarded with a shorter and/or preferred angle of play for the next shot.

The greens are contoured simply to allow for fast greens. Players will find that the greens are often times angled, creating preferred lines of play for approach shots into greens.

The areas around the green are cut low, almost to greens height of cut. These “fore greens” allow for a variety of recovery options for approach shots that miss the green.

Large bodies of water are utilized in the design of certain holes. Coupling that with brilliant white, high-faced sand bunkers create dramatic aesthetics throughout the golf course.

The golf course will be kept exceptionally playable as the pine forest will be cleared of low growing understory vegetation. This maintenance practice will allow wayward balls to be easily found and played back towards the intended line of play. The landing areas will be wide and maintained at one height of cut to allow ample room for tee shots.

The golf course will play very firm and fast, especially around the greens with its maintenance emphasized to produce an impeccable golf course.

Practice facilities will consist of a 30,000 sq ft putting green, practice range, private practice area, as well as The Playgrounds. The Playgrounds will offer an enjoyable, unique, and unstructured 9 hole experience for all ages and skill levels.

Back tee – 7542 yards; 2nd  – 7022 yards;  3rd – 6585 yards; 4th – 6259; Front – 5457 and  Junior – 3008 yards.
