Supercaddy John ‘Ronnie’ Roberts Celebrating Bournemouth’s Premier Division Prize

If you wondered why ‘Supercaddy’ John ‘Ronnie’ Roberts has not been sighted much this new season the answer is simple.

‘Ronnie’ has been in attendance at every game of his beloved Bournemouth AFC team in their quest to win Premier Division promotion.

And it was ‘mission accomplished’ tonight as Bournemouth clearly routed rivals Bolton Wanderers 3 nil to remain in second place on 87 points and three points clear of third place Middlesborough, and with just one match to go this Saturday against Charlton Athletic.

Only defeat and a 19-goal difference swing in the Championship division final day can deny Bournemouth  a place in the Premier League.

“Mission accomplished”, declared Ronnie who was on the pitch at Bournemouth soaking up the celebrations.

“It’s been a massive decision since last December to follow Bournemouth but then I’ve been to every game this season and this is the sweetest of sweetest nights and I don’t regret one minute.

“In my life I’ve been fortunate to have had front row seats in seeing Great Britain athletes win gold medals at the Olympic Games and I’ve walked the 18th hole fairways with many European Tour winners, including caddying in 2013 for Aussie Brett Rumford when we won back-to-back in capturing the Ballantine’s Championship and the Volvo China Open.

“I began following Bournemouth late August 1952 and to have tonight witnessed Bournemouth seal Premier Division promotion, and after avoiding going into liquidation some seven years ago, is indescribable.  It’s been a fantastic achievement and everyone is just so proud of the team.

“So now I’ll be back on the Tour looking for a bag”.

Well done, Ronnie!
