Valero Texas Open Final Round Turning Into A Lone Star State Shootout Between Walker & Spieth.

The final San Antonio round is set for a Lone Star State shootout between fellow Texans Jimmy Walker and Jordan Spieth.Walker birdied his last two holes in a 69 to move to nine under par and four shots clear of the 21-year old Spieth who fired a 71 for a five under par total

Both are not only seeking a first Texas victory but looking to win for a second time this season and with Spieth a fourth victory in nine starts after last December winning the back-to-back Australian Open and Hero World Challenge titles.

And two weeks ago Spieth won the Valspar Championship in Tampa Bay, Florida.

However when quizzed about the likelihood of a Texas Shootout both Walker and Speith played down the notion.”I view tomorrow that I have to go out and play a good round because, you know, seeing it’s just hard. You can get on the wrong side out here pretty quickly, it’s that kind of a golf course, it’s hard,” said Walker.
“So you really have to concentrate and hit the shots you need to hit. So that’s what I have to do for tomorrow for me.”And Spieth commented: “I wish I was closer than five back. That’s tough coming from the back on a really tough golf course.

“So for me, I’m not necessarily looking at it as a shoot-out. If we were both 9-under, whatever, six shots clear of everybody else, I’d agree it would be a shoot-out.

“But tomorrow for me is just about going out there and off the bat trying to play a good, solid round of golf and gain some momentum. If it happens to be where we get into a shoot-out it’s going to be a lot of fun, fun for the people watching us, even more fun for Jimmy and I to be out there fighting it out.”
