Rory McIlroy Rebounds From Honda Crash To Win Seminole Pro-Member With 63.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy rebounded from crashing out of the Honda Classic to shoot a round of 63 and capture first prize in the Seminole Pro-Member event on Monday at Juno Beach, Florida.

McIlroy teamed with Seminole member John Pinkham posting a front nine of a six under par 30 on route to a nine under par tally.

Three days earlier McIlroy was cut from the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic at nearby Palm Beach Gardens with scores of 73 and 74.

American Ben Martin paired with Seminole member Rick Woolworth finished second in the gross division, two strokes behind McIlroy.

And Phil Mickelson, who shared 17th place at PGA National, played alongside Seminole President and Augusta National member Jimmy Payne to be tied for eighth place at Seminole with a team gross score of 67.

However because of the Monday finish to the Honda and the afternoon start to the event at Seminole Mickelson pulled the plug on an Augusta National practice round.

McIlroy and Mickelson will this week compete in the $US 9.25m WGC – Cadillac Championship at Trump Doral in suburban Miami.

The event is the first real big showdown among the heavyweights of golf.

However the only player not present will be the 14-time Major winning Tiger Woods who is taking an enforced break from the game.
