Love 111 To Miss Ryder Cup Houston Meeting With Clarke Due To Toe Surgery.

USA Ryder Cup captain Davis Love 111 will forgo playing a practice round this week in Houston with European Team rival Darren Clarke to undergo much-needed toe surgery.

Love 111 was set to meet up with Clarke for a first time since both were appointed respective 2016 Captains.

However Love 111 will now advise Shell Houston Open officials he will be withdrawing from the $US 6.6m starting Thursday in Houston.

“I was looking forward so much to catching-up with Darren in Houston as we’d organised to play a practice round together on Tuesday in Houston,” he said to Reuters after posting a final day 74 for a seven over par total in the Valero Texas Open.

“But one of my toes on my right foot is just giving me so much trouble it’s needs an operation.

“It’s been bothering me for some years and has been dislocated for some time so I’ve been told I need surgery to get it put back into the joint.

“The fact is the longer I have left it the worst it’s got and I guess it’s just worn out (smiling).

“So it will mean missing out on catching up with Darren but I’m sure he’ll understand.”

The surgery will mean Love 111 will be side-lined for a few weeks.
