Medinah Miracle Man Says Europe Won’t Rest Until Ryder Cup Records Are Reversed.

Medinah miracle man Ian Poulter has vowed Europe’s Ryder Cup winning ways will continue until Europe has reversed the record books against the US.

Poulter birdied the closing five holes in the 2012 Afternoon Fourballs that gave Europe the momentum in suburban Chicago to come from 10 – 6 down and win by a point for a second straight Ryder Cup success.

And after shooting a one over par 71 on the first day of the Honda Classic he was asked his thoughts on the selection of Davis Love 111 to again captain the USA Team.

“The USA and Europe both want to win at Hazeltine but the passion Europe showed in 2012 will be the same passion in 2016”, said Poulter.

“The stats and the record books still say Europe is behind with victories in the Ryder Cup and that approach will not change till Europe is ahead in having won more Ryder Cups than the States.

“Davis is a great guy and understands the job at hand very well, and he would have been disappointed last time around given his team had a six point lead with 14 matches to go.

“But at the end of the day it’s the players who need to perform and it’s good to see it’s the players who had the big decision in wanting Davis back as captain, and that’s something that Europe has done often in asking the players.”

Poulter will head to the second round of the $6.1m event trailing six shots behind American Jim Herman who posted a five under par 65 in the bright but windy conditions.
