It was a superb morning the day after World No. 1 Rory McIlroy captured a second Omega Dubai Desert Classic title.
While workmen began pulling down and packing up infrastructure for another year four of us found our way to the opening tee of the Faldo Course, and the second course at the Emirates Club.
The four – Stuart Adams, Belgian-bomber Frank, local Dubai radio host and myself – teed off at 11.45am.
And to make the day interested Stuart and myself took on Frank and PJ – 1o Dirhams front nine, 10 Dirhams back nine and 10 Dirhams overall.
Well Stuart and I won the front nine and our rivals took the back nine ensuring the overall match came down the final hole.
Suffice to say it was your editor playing a superb 24-degree rescue club from waste sand down the right side of the fairway by superbly clearing water guarding the green and onto the dance floor to set up 1 up victory.
However we’re still awaiting our 10 Dirham reward.
Anyway here’s some photos from the outing and special thanks to Chris May and Viren Varma from golfinDubai for the opportunity to play the course.
