Darren Clarke Fortunate To Escape Serious Leg Injury.

Darren Clarke was fortunate to escape serious leg injury in a bizarre incident getting out of his hotel bed earlier today in Dubai.

The 2011 Open Champion stumbled heavily and injuring his right ankle.

Clarke got dressed and headed to the Emirates Club where he advised officials his ankle was hurting so much he could not contest the afternoon eight-man 9-hole Challenge.

Instead, former British Amateur champion and ISM management stablemate, Matt Fitzpatrick took Clarke’s place in the event won by the duo of Stephen Gallacher and Henrik Stenson.

Clarke then acted as MC on the 10th tee sending off the eight players including Sergio Garcia and having fun in hurrying the Spaniard to the tee.

However the ankle was clearly still giving him concern as you can see in Eoin Clarke (www.golffile.ie) exclusive photograph above.
