Bill Haas Makes It Two Humana Challenge Victories In Six Years.

Bill Haas made it two Humana Challenge victories in six years coming from behind to capture the PGA Tour title.

The American, who won the event in 2010, shot a final round 67 for a 22-under par tally and also claim a first win in two years and also his sixth Tour victory.

“If you would have told me I would have done this last week, I would have laughed at you,” was Haas’ reaction.

Five players – Charley Hoffman, Brendan Steele, Sung Joon Park, Steve Wheatcroft and Matt Kuchar – shared second place on 21-under par.

The win by Haas is notable as his off-season practice had been hampered by the recovery to his fractured left wrist.

He injured the wrist at the RBC Heritage in April, but was still able to play the remainder of the season.

Doctors advised him that extended rest would eventually be needed for the injury to heal. After a dismal showing at the HSBC Champions – he said he hit just 11 greens in regulation over the final 36 holes – he decided to take that time off.

“I feel like that’s the only time I’ve been in a tournament where ‑‑ I’ve been maybe one ahead or tied, but not with five or six guys right behind me knowing that if I dump one in the water I go from winning to finishing 10th maybe,” added Haas.

“So, I just tried to stay focused, those last four holes get your attention on every shot.  Now if you execute, they can be easy holes, but you certainly, as I proved on 18, if you don’t execute, you can make a mess of them.

“I was certainly feeling the pressure and I didn’t feel sharp coming into this week.  I came out here and worked hard, so I was doing my best to be sharp, but to have those feelings, to start the week and then there on Sunday and somewhat execute coming down the stretch is a great feeling.”
