Tommy Fleetwood Ready To Swoop On Augusta National Invitation.

England’s in-form Tommy Fleetwood is staring at the Christmas gift on an invitation to compete in next year’s Masters at Augusta National.

That’s the goal for the 23-year old, and 2013 Johnnie Walker Championship winner, heading into Thursday’s start to the inaugural Dubai Open on the Ernie Els designed Els Course in the UAE.

Fresh from a strong fourth behind Lee Westwood at last week’s Thailand Golf Championship, Fleetwood needs to finish at least solo 16th to break into the top-50.

If successful, the current World No. 52 ranked Fleetwood will qualify for the 2015 Masters by ending the year inside the top-50 on the rankings.

It means that the likes of John Senden, ranked 49th in the world, and Kevin Streelman sitting right on the bubble at No. 50, face an anxious week given this is the final World Ranking counting tournament in 2014 and with Augusta National to mail invitations to those inside the Top-50 on December 31st.

“This is the last event of the whole year of any tour so I just need a good result and the thought of qualifying for my first Masters is a great incentive this week,” said Fleetwood.

And if all goes to plan it will be only Fleetwood’s third Major after competing in this year’s Open Championship and PGA Championship.
