Jose Maria Olazabal & Rafa Nadal Share Invitational Honors.

For a second year in a row and heavy rain spoilt a result in the Olazábal & Nadal Invitational in Majorca, Spain.

The tournament between the double Masters winner Olazábal and the 15 Major winning Rafa Nadal ended in a draw.

But while the weather ruined a result the charity tournament achieved its goal and that was to join forces against social exclusion.  The weather conditions simply prevented the declaration of a winner.

Play got underway at 8.30am local time on a cloudy day but just over two hours later and the heavens opened forcing play to be stopped and later abaondoned, and just as had been the scenario a year ago.

Joining the victorious 2012 European Ryder Cup captain and Spain’s greatest-ever tennis player was 15 professionals including Carlota Ciganda, Jesus Legarrea, Jorge Campillo, Portugal’s Ricardo Santos, Santiago Luna, Eduardo de la Riva, Jose Manuel Lara, Alvaro Quiros, Alejandro Canizares, Nacho Elvira, Lorenzo Gagli, Carlos del Moral,Benoit Teilleria and Pepo Canonical.

Now are the foundations of Basque golfer, Sport Mundi, www.sport-mundi.org and Fundación Rafa Nadal, www.fundacionrafanadal.org, which carried out the following initiatives: scholarships dining in Spain through the EDUCO project (Sport Mundi) and the Center for Social Development Mallorca (Rafa Nadal Foundation).

Last year’s event resulted in the funding of José María Olazábal study of health protocols to be implemented to rare diseases, build houses in villages in India and implement programs with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, and the founding of Rafael Nadal further develop the “More Than Tennis” project for children with disabilities.

The tournament is possible thanks to the EY partners, NCM Network, Lloyds Bank, Protelkom, OHL, Cap Vermell, Still Hotels, NIKE Golf, Bitsporting, Carrasco Guijuelo, Iberia Express, Dekton, Bodegas Viña Mayor and the School of Hotel de Mallorca and has been organized by Sega Golf.
