Harrington Jumps 125 Spots, Willett Up 28, Lowry Up 5 & Spieth Now World No. 9

Padraig Harrington’s first ‘full-field’ tournament victory in four years has seen the Irishman jump 125 spots on the World Rankings that were updated earlier today.

Harrington claimed a two shot victory in capturing the Indonesian Open and a win that saw the then 385th world ranked golfer move back up to 260th in the world.

England’s Danny Willett is now the new World No. 56th ranked player and up from No. 84 following his superb four shot success in the Nedbank Challenge in South Africa.

Padraig Harrington wins for a 28th time in his career and in a 14th different country.

Padraig Harrington finds himself the biggest ‘shaker’ in the World Rankings jumping 125 places to No. 260 in the world on the back of his Indonesian Open win.

Ireland’s Shane Lowry is now fully assured of a first Masters invitation in moving up three places to 44th in the world after his 11th place finish behind Willett.

However the biggest news as far as the World Rankings is concerned was American Jordan Spieth moving back into the top-10 and up to ninth on the back of his tearaway 10-shot Hero World Challenge success yesterday here in suburban Orlando.

Spieth had moved to a career high of No. 7 following his fourth place finish in the Masters but has clawed his way back into the top-10 courtesy of moving to 11th in capturing last week’s Australian Open in Sydney and now picking up a further two spots with his third career victory.

Former long-time World No. 1 Tiger Woods dropped a place to be now the World No. 25.

Other movers up the rankings include:

England’s Justin Rose – up one place to World No. 5 and replacing Jim Furyk.

American Patrick Reed – up three places to World No. 23.

England’s Luke Donald – up five spots to World No. 32.

Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher – up two spots to World No. 34.

However those heading in the  opposite direction include:-

American Rickie Fowler – down a spot to No. 10.

South African Ernie Els outside the top 60 and down from 58 to 61.

Scotland’s Martin Laird – down three spots to a lowly 159th.

Italian stallion Matteo Manassero drops a further five places to No. 143.

Double US Open winner Retief Goosen now ranked 200th in the world.
