Shane Lowry Lands Lucky First Tour Ace At DP World’s 13th Hole.

Ireland’s Shane Lowry has recorded his first European Tour ace by holing out with a 6-iron at the 183-yard par three 13th.

It is the fifth hole-in-one in the six-year history of the event but the first at the 13th on the Earth Course at the Jumeriah Estate course.

Unfortunately there was no prize of a new car for Lowry other than two nights accommodation at the stunning Atlantis Honour plus the honor on the next tee.

“It was a beautiful shot, a perfect number for my six iron and it’s my first one in tournament play and only my second-ever hole-in-one so it was pretty exciting but then it was hard to go on and play the next hole after it,” said Lowry.

“I noticed a Rolex sign on the tee and thought I might win a gleaming new Rolex but then two nights at the Atlantis Hotel is not too bad.”

Lowry eventually carded a one under par to head to the third round in a five-way share of fifth place on seven under par.

Others to have had aces during the season-ending event include:-

Stephen Gallacher – 4th round 2012

Joost Luiten – 4th round 2012

Ignacio Garrido – 4th round 2010

Charl Schwartzel – 1st round 2010.
