Callaway’s Kris Broberg Heading For Stardom In DP World Tour Championship.

There’s not just one Swedish golfer atop of the leader board after two rounds of the DP World Tour Championship.

While Henrik Stenson moved two shots clear of the field his compatriot Kris Broberg is sharing fifth place on seven under par and just three shots behind Stenson and with still 36-holes to play.

Broberg, 28 is contesting the season-ending Race to Dubai event for a first time posted a second round 67 that included five birdies in his closing eight holes and bouncing back in superb form after taking a double bogey at the ninth.

“It’s always good to be on top but my name is not that good and my putting is really, really, really hot.  I have no thoughts for the weekend,” he said.

“You need to learn how to score because I played pretty good last weeks, but putting has been off and now it’s like opposite.  So it’s like fantastic.

Broberg burst onto the world stage two years ago and brilliantly securing his main Tour card with four wins in 2012 on the secondary Challenge Tour.

However he struggled in 2013 and in his first year on the main Tour managing a second place finish in 27 events to retain his card by ending the year 103rd on the Race to Dubai

Broberg’s 2014 season has been a lot more solid with the highlights being placed third in the Irish Open and then three events later he was well in contention for victory in the Scottish Open before losing out and sharing second place by England’s Justin Rose.

He arrived in Dubai lying 44th on the money list and now in with a strong chance of breaking at least into the top-30 that would guarantee the Stockholm-born Broberg a place in next year’s Open Championship.
