Edoardo Molinari Snares Second Ace But Misses Out On BMW i8 … 34th Ace In 2014.

Italy’s Edoardo Molinari grabbed the second ace of his European Tour career but unfortunately he missed out on the keys to a gleaming BMW i8 sports sedan.

Molinari holed out using a 4-iron from 208-yards out at the par three fourth hole that he was playing as his 13th in the $7m event being played on the rain-softened Lake Malaren course.

It is the 34th hole-in-one this season on the European Tour and comes after Australian Anthony Brown aced the 12th during the first round of last week’s Perth International.

As well, it is the third hole-in-one in the history of the BMW Masters but a first since 2012, and also the first by a non-Asia born player.

And while missing out on the sporty BMW hybrid, organisers are to present Molinari with a bottle of champers and a remote BMW car as gifts for his achievement.

“Now I’ve got the small one hopefully one day I can win the big one,” he said smiling.

“I’ve had five hole-in-one’s in my career and with two of those now on the Tour, and with the last one in a Singapore Open.

“But then this is my first prize but then anytime you make a hole-in-one it’s a good day.”
