Denver Broncos Gearing Up To Host McIlroy, Mickelson & Watson.

With the PGA Tour Play-Off Series being staged in Denver this week for the BMW Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club, the Denver Broncos are planning on hosting three of golf’s biggest stars — Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson — for their NFL season-opening game Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Broncos’ opener will be played at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, where McIlroy and Mickelson will have passes waiting.

And with no second cut at Cherry Hills all of the top 70 FedEx Cup stars are guaranteed to be in Denver to Sunday.

McIlroy spoke of his excitement in heading to Denver following last week’s Barclays Championship and was up-to-date in remarking:  “The Broncos are playing the Colts the Sunday night after the tournament so that’s another reason to be playing the Barclays.”

It will be a special return to the Rocky Mountain State and the Cherry Hills course for Mickelson as he captured the US Amateur title on this week’s host venue.

Update: The Broncos made arrangements early Monday with McIroy and Michelson. Watson was included later Monday evening
