McIlroy Confirms BMW C’Ship In Denver … “I Want To See Broncos Play The Colts”.

Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will contest the closing three events in the FedEx Cup Play-Off Series.

There was uncertainty if McIlroy would skip next week’s Barclays Championship in Denver however the four-time Major winner expressed extra reason in wanting to be present in the ‘Mile High City’.

“I was thinking about missing Denver but I feel fine, I feel fresh and I have no problem playing a lot of golf,” he said.

“So I am 90% certain I am going to be in Denver.

“One of the reasons I also want to go to Denver is the Broncos (Denver) play the Colts (Indianapolis) on the Sunday night in their first NFL game of the season, so I want to go to that, as well.

“No, I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Cherry Hills course like the golf ball travels a mile there, so I am looking forward to that, and like hitting 7-irons 220-yards (smiling).

“So really I am all set to play in Denver and I don’t think I will be skipping the event.”

However with a week’s break scheduled next year in the middle of the Play-Off Series and ahead of the Barclays Championship it has been confirmed McIlroy will travel to Switzerland that week to contest the Omega European Masters, and where in 2008 he had let slip a first-ever pro career victory.

McIlroy’s goal of capturing a first FedEx Cup title remains on tract despite American Hunter Mahan going past him with victory in New Jersey.

Mahan, who was ranked 62nd heading to New Jersey, has taken the lead with 3,276 points to McIlroy’s second place tally 2,810 points FedEx Cup points.

Despite the embarrassment of Mahan breaking in half the Waterford Crystal Barclays trophy, he’s delivered USA Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson a huge favour in putting himself in line for a ‘wildcard’ pick.
