Michael Hoey Withdraws With Injury From Open Championship.

Five-time European Tour winner Michael Hoey has withdrawn from this year’s Open Championship through injury.

Hoey had shot an opening round of a five over par 75 and was three over par through seven holes on day two when he withdrew.

It has been revealed Hoey recently had a callous removed from his left foot but in replacing the bandage this morning a large portion of flesh came away from the bandage.

Hoey applied new bandages to the foot but was also struggling to get on his golf shoe.

The discomfort became so bad next week’s defending Russian Open champion advised his playing partners he could not continue.

It is unsure if Hoey will now travel next week to Moscow and he’ll make that decision over the weekend.
