Adam Scott – “I’m Not Superstitious But I’m Not Going To Jinx Myself”.

Adam Scott admits he’s not superstitious but then don’t ever ask the 2013 Masters champion to pose holding the trophy of the three other Majors in golf.

It was American Rickie Fowler who was asked earlier today, and on the eve of the $US 9m WGC – Bridgestone Invitational, how he defined next week’s PGA Championship in relation to the other Majors.

Fowler indicated in answering the question that he had admired the Rodman Wanamaker Trophy sitting next to the TV in Keegan Bradley’s house.

It prompted Fowler to be asked:  “Did you pick it up?”

And in his further reply Fowler revealed, and just as Graeme McDowell had (see earlier www.golfbytourmiss.com) story, that a number of the game’s leading players have this week been asked to pose with the Wanamaker Trophy in a promotion ahead of next week’s PGA Championship.

Scott found himself being asked the same question and responded saying:  “I can definitely understand how players would not want to touch or handle a Major trophy until they have won it.

“But then I’m not superstitious, but if that stuff does exist then I would rather not jinx myself.

“It is something similar to when I got invited to go to the Masters and before I had qualified to play.  I declined because I felt like the first time I go there is when I am actually going to play.

“I felt like it wasn’t far away from that and that my first Masters experience should be when I get to compete.”

However Scott and myself where on hand in the White Plains Hotel on a Sunday night in June 2006 when fellow Australian Geoff Ogilvy returned back to the hotel clutching the gleaming US Open trophy.

And among those to drink out of the trophy was Scott.

“I figured that would be alright and not a superstition thing when Geoff won,” he said smiling,
