The America’s Golf Cup was created with the aim of helping the development of golf in the region.

The AGC will be played every year at different countries in Latin America and will field many of the world’s best players in.

Woods will be competing in Argentina for a first time after being a member of the victorious 2000 World Cup held at the Buenos Aires Golf Club.

“That was when we decided to put together the America’s Golf Cup. Great tournaments and great players need each other, and this is why we invited Ángel Cabrera, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar to join this project. I am very proud that these three players have supported the event right from the start, because they believe that it will contribute greatly to the development of this sport in the region”.

Juan Carlos Arroyo, Sports Secretary of the Pilar Municipality added, “It makes the people of Pilar very proud to host such an important event, with so many top players. To associate Pilar with golf has great value, in addition, being one of the areas that has the most golf courses in the country”.

“Any tournament around the world that is played under the PGA TOUR’s supervision means no player is guaranteed a fee, so this means that Tiger will not get any special fee for attending the tournament.

“But yes, the PGA TOUR gave us a very welcoming hand by convincing Tiger and Kuchar to come. The PGA TOUR is very committed to the region, and part of that shows in the PGA TOUR Latin America”, pointed out Francisco Aleman, America’s Golf Cup Sports Director.

“IMG will be in charge of the production of the America´s Golf Cup. In order to be well prepared for those attending the event, to ensure that they will have a good time, and also to make sure that every player has all the necessary conveniences, there has to be someone behind the scenes”, saidGuillermo Ricaldoni, IMG Argentina’s Marketing Director.

Tiger can provide a lot to the people who will go to see him. He is a real pro, and I myself, will give up anything to represent Argentina”.

Woods spoke to those present at the launch via a video hook-up and mentioned he has fond memories of his visit to Argentina in 2000. “Matt (Kuchar) and I will try to win the cup for the USA. We know that Angel (Cabrera) will also try to win, but we will not go away without a fight”.

The format of play of the America’s Golf Cup will be Four Ball best ball, through the four days of competition, and will feature a total of 34 participating countries, four of which will be invited.
