Rory McIlroy & Graeme McDowell Make Contrasting U.S. Front Page News.

Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell have made the front pages of two contrasting U.S. newspapers but with very different story lines.

McIlroy is on the front page of the national USA Today Sports section but not in a colourful feature article.  No, that has been reserved for double Masters champion, Bubba Watson.

The now No.10 world ranked Rory McIlroy now 10-1 to win next month's US Open.

The new World No. 10s picture appears in a match-box size mention revealing he is now 10-1 to win next month’s US Open, and this just a week before heading into the Masters as Augusta National joint favourite.

In contrast, McDowell finds himself the main story on the front page of The Island Packet, a local Hilton Head Island/Bluffton newspaper that states under it’s banner – ‘Serving the Low Country’.

McDowell’s picture appears at the now annual ceremonial driving-in ceremony for the the defending champion.

The noise of the blast certainly took McDowell by surprise as you can see in a www.golfbytourmiss.com video clip we posted on the website yesterday.

McDowell is among 20 of the world’s top-50 competing this week on the Harbor Town Golf Links course.

And G Mac is also among 19 Major Champions headed by the eight-time Major winning and reigning USA Ryder Cup captain, Tom Watson, who won the Heritage in 1979 and 1982 but hasn’t played since missing the cut in 2001.
