Miguel Angel Jimenez Toasts Victory At First Senior Tour Event.

Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez is celebrating after capturing the PGA Champions Greater Gwinnett Championship in suburban Atlanta in his very first start in the seniors ranks.

The 50-year old Malaga golfer fended off defending champion Bernhard Langer, and his former 2004 victorious Ryder Cup captain, with a final round 67 to win by two shots with a 14 under par total on the TPC Sugarloaf  course in Duluth.

Jimenez also became the second straight senior tour ‘rookie’ to win on debut in the States after American Jeff Maggert captured the Mississippi Golf Resort Classic.

Scotland’s Colin Montogmerie posted a 69 for a share of eighth place on five under par while Sandy Lyle shot a 73 for a four over par for a share of 47th at four over par.
