Luke Donald – Two 2nds, Two 3rds & Now Targeting A RBC Heritage Classic 1st.

After finishing runner-up twice before and also third on two other occasions, Luke Donald is now looking to finally breakthrough and capture the RBC  Heritage Classic title at Hilton Head.

Donald saved par from the back of the 18th green in a round of a five under par 66 to move two shots clear of his rivals at eight under par with a round to play in the $US 5.8m event being  played on the Harbor Town Golf Links course.

“I felt really comfortable out there today and just felt like I was going to play well and I did,” said Donald.

“I have always loved this golf course, and the conditions were pretty manageable over the front nine before the windy started picking with the 18th a beast.

“But I am really happy with the way I am striking the ball and it always felt like I was going to give myself a lot of chances.”

Victory in South Carolina would be fifth PGA Tour success and his first since capturing the 2012 Transitions Championship.

As well, a win would be a huge lift in terms of Donald qualifying automatically for the European Ryder Cup team.

Donald is currently ranked ninth overall on the European Ryder Cup points table with Westwood, who enjoys a four shot halfway lead in the Malaysian Open currently lying 20th.

American John Huh is in second place at six under par.
