‘Drove My The Chevy To The ….. Well, Hilton Head’.

The urge to return to Hilton Head along with the use of a gleaming black Chevy Camaro was a strong combination in driving from the Masters to this week’s RBC Heritage Classic.

So after a long and exhaustive week reporting on the Masters, it was sheer joy to pack this new version of an American motoring icon and take the drive south-east from Augusta, Georgia, all the way along Route 278 to Hilton Head here in South Carolina.

The Chevy Camaro had been in use at Augusta just for short drives back and forward to Augusta National but on the open road the V6 and 323 Horse power coupe was a sheer pleasure to drive.

We made a couple of stops along the way paying a visit to Ellerton Public Golf Course in South Carolina and also at a disused gas station where the fuel price on the pumps showed – 75 cents/gallon.  The last time gas was that cheap was around 1990.

Here is a selection of snaps from the journey (Click in individual snaps to enlarge)
