Russell Knox Ties The Knot Ahead Of RBC Heritage Debut.

In a first for some time Scotland has three players competing in this week’s RBC Heritage Classic with European Tour based Stephen Gallacher accepting an invitation to join the PGA Tour based duo of newly-married Russell Knox and Martin Laird.

Knox is now sporting a gleaming silver wedding ring on his left hand but finding it a little uncomfortable getting used to compared to having a golf club in his hand.

“It’s great been married and a long overdue as we have been together for a long time, so we’re both pleased to have a great day together last Saturday,” said Knox.

“I wasn’t nervous at all as Andrea had already said ‘yes’, so as long as she turned up but it was a great day.”

Knox indicated it was a low-key ceremony in Jacksonville, Florida with around 20 guests in attendance.

However for two days either side of his wedding and in the afternoon on Sunday, Knox indicated he found himself having one eye on TV coverage of the Masters.

“The wedding was a great distraction from the Masters and good to get away, and something I needed, so in a way I was pleased not to be too involved.

“But it’s back to work this week and the great thing is that Andrea understands what I do for a living so I can’t wait to get a crack at this course, as I haven’t played here before.”

Knox will play the opening two rounds teeing off at 12.40pm UK time in the company of England’s Paul Casey and American Will MacKenzie.

Gallacher is out 10 minutes earlier playing alongside the American pair of Ben Crane and Brice Garnett while Laird, who like Knox has had a fortnight’s break from the Tour, will  tee-up at 5.20pm UK time in the company of former Open Champion Ben Curtin and past US Open winner Lucas Glover.
