Double Major winning Rory McIlroy must surely have had a few laughs on his flight from Dubai to Sydney for this week’s Australian Open.
McIlroy found himself sitting in first class beside American-born comedian Will Ferrell.
Sydney here I come! My @Bose QC20’s to help me enjoy the flight along with Will Ferrell in the seat next to me!! …
Ferrell is in Australia, and joining fellow stars Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner along with director Adam McKay, for the premier in Sydney today (November 24th) at the Entertainment Center of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
The movie itself is released on 19th December.
McIlroy will be teeing-up at Royal Sydney for a first time since he appeared in the 2006 event as an amateur and looking to deny World No. 2 Adam Scott of winning the ‘Down Under Grand Slam’ – Australian PGA Championship, Australian Masters and Australian Open.
“Adam is playing great golf this year and with two victories this month alone he will be a force to reckon with in Sydney,” said McIlroy.
“Having won the Masters in April and Barclays Fedex in August, it is fare to say that Adam is a tough opponent no matter where he plays. I expect him to contend in Royal Sydney.”
McIlroy has been in Dubai and practicing at the Els Club since finishing fifth in the 2013 Race to Dubai.
The Australian Open will be his penultimate event of 2013 and leaving the current World No. 6 just two tournaments to end the year with a first victory.
McIlroy has after rumours of a split in his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki begun Tweeting more regularly and with Wozniacki, who followed McIlroy for four days last week in Dubai, Tweeting a picture of the two taken at this week’s Dubai Air Show.
