Callaway Golf Now Boasts Longest Hitters Both Sides Of The Pond As Colsaerts Joins Quiros and Woodland

Callaway Golf now boasts the biggest hitters either side of the Atlantic Ocean with news the golf equipment gaint has signed big-hitting Belgium Nicolas Colsaerts.

The brilliant Ryder Cup rookie is among a number of high-profile players to have switched from Titleist clubs to Callaway for season 2013.

Colsaerts confirmed on his website he has signed a new deal and from the Volvo Champions event next week in Durban.

But while Colsaerts wi he will be using the new Callaway 9.5 Razr Head Driver, Callaway Dynamic Gold X-100 irons (with exception of 2-iron), and the Odyssey Black Series 1 Tungsten putter his deal with Callaway is just a two-club deal – driver and putter.

He had commenced his 2012 season in teh same event shooting a first round 63 and could count himself unlucky not to have made the play-off.

Colsaerts now joins Spaniard Alvaro Quiros and American Gary Woodland as using Callaway equipment.

Colsaerts last year was ranked the longest driver on the European Tour with Genworth Statistics indicating he avereage 318.3 yards a drive on the 2012 Race to Dubai Tour.

That was nearly five yards longer than Australia’s Scott Hend and 5.8 yards longer than Quiros, his now Callaway staff team mate who averaged 312.5 yards.

“I’m so glad to Callaway as partners for the driver and the putter,” said Colsaerts.

However Colsaerts indicated he will still use a Titleist ball and glove and wear Footjoy shoes.

“It’s a good move for me as it’s been a long since I was a staff player of sorts and that was when I was using Mizuno clubs some time ago.

“So I am looking forward to the support frompCallaway and also working with Seamus on the  putters as I’ve known him for such a long time.”

Woodland had the honour of recording the longest drive on the 2012 PGA Tour with a booming drive of 450-yards at the 18th hole on day one of the very first event of the new season – the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

And for the past three years Woodland has averaged more than 300 yards in Driving Distance.

The signing of Colsaerts and Woodland, who is a management stablemate to Tiger Woods, is exciting news for Callaway when for so many weeks journalists, including myself, have been consumed with reporting the signing of World No. 1 Rory McIlroy with Nike.
