Phil Mickelson was delighted fellow left-handed US President Barack Obama has been re-elected to the White House.

News that Obama defeated rival Mitt Romley was confirmed in Singapore late Wednesday morning and about the same time as Mickelson was ending competing in the Barclays Singapore Open Pro-Am.

“I haven’t played golf with President Obama but then I only met him briefly about this time last year,” said Mickelson.

“I am certainly bias that he is a fellow left-hander, and I think that is pretty cool.  He’s a very good athlete and he plays a lot of basketball as well as he looks a pretty decent golfer.”

However when it was put to Mickelson that Obama ‘swings to the left’ Mickelson broke out in a smile in quickly catching the drift of the question.

“No,  I’m not political but that’s an interesting analysis,” said Mickelson.
