Stacy Lewis Storms To The Lead At Evian Masters.

Exclusive report by Agathe Seron.

Lewis’ round, that included seven straight birdies, matched the course record set in 2008 by  Helen Afredsson.

Stacy Lewis storms to the lead on day one Evian Masters.

In 14 starts this season, the Woodlands, Texas native has notched nine top-10 finishes, with five top-5s in the last seven tournaments and got two victories.

Lewis was not discreet in anyway as she made her way up the Rolex Rankings, jumping from No. 9 to No. 6 and then to No. 3 before moving to runner up in the matter of weeks.

Last Monday, she realized that she was the top American on LPGA ranking 14th.

The game she offered to French fans was wonderful.

“I feel relax here at the Evian Masters,” she said.

“Every one is taking good care of us and the place inspires me.

“Today I started kind of slow then I don’t know what changed and I holed birdie of 5th then 6th and 7th hole and I began to hit good shots. As I holed 5 birdies in a row, T.J. Jones, Brittany Lincicome’s caddy asked me how many I holed and about doing better. I managed to keep on hitting shot after shot. I almost holed the 8th birdie in a row but T.J. Said that seven was not too bad ! (laughs) ”

Hot on Lewis’ heels is Korean Hee Young Park who signed for a 65 while fellow Korean Il Hee Lee carded a 66.

On her home soil, France’s Karine Icher leads tricolour hope.

She shot 70 to tie for 17th place and with Icher, who become a mum last year, now a full member of the LPGA Tour for 8 years.

Cheyenne Woods recorded a 71 to put herself on path for a hopeful first cut as a professional.
