Bunkered At Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

When Tiger Woods captured the 2005 Open Championship at St. Andrews he did so remarkably without finding a bunker over the four rounds.

The R & A in association with Royal Lytham and St. Annes again hosted the media to a pre-Open Championship golf outing on this year’s course located on the north-west England coast.

However unlike the Old Course at St. Andrews where Woods found none of the 112 bunkers, Royal Lytham boasts 202 bunkers and as members of the AGW along with a good number of R & A officials, including CEO Peter Dawson and Championship Committee Chairman, Jim McArthur, found out it was virtually impossible in avoiding finding the bunkers.

Apart from that it was an enjoyable day with AGW and R & A member Colin Callander winning the outing with 34 Stableford points.

And in the big match up of the day Trevor Peake managed to square the 2012 Ashes Series with a 2 up success over yours truly.  But in stark contrast to some superb stroke play at St. Annes Old Course a day prior it was pretty average to say the least at the venue for the July 19th starting Open.

But thanks to Lynn, Mary and Malcolm from the R & A and to Royal Lytham and St. Annes for so kindly hosting us to golf and then afterwards a wonderful dinner within the clubhouse.

Here is a selection of snaps from the golf and dinner…. click to enlage.
