BERNIE MCGUIRE

Before getting into golf Bernie McGuire worked for a government politician in his home state of New South Wales, Australia.
Bernie worked as a press secretary and his life bizarrely changed for the better when the Minister's political party lost an election.
The day after the election Bernie headed off to a golf tournament. He visited the exhibition area where he filled out a coupon.
Bernie went back to work a day later only to learn he had won first prize in the promotion – an all expenses paid trip to the Players Championship at Sawgrass in Florida.
This new career path then took Bernie to the 1989 Open Championship that was the first of over 50 Majors Championships he has now reported on.
Bernie annually attends close to 30 tournaments from where he contributes to a number of newspapers in Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
He was recently appointed Assistant Secretary on the Association of Golf Writers (Europe) while he also is a member of the Australian Golf Writers Association.
Bernie also resides at Crail and if he’s not home or overseas then he must be out on either the Balcomie or Craighead course at Crail.
